Minimal Variations

• Some contractors have been known to underbid the job then make up profitability by ‘loading’ variations. We don’t.
• In fact we actively minimise variation work. We do this by realistic assessment to the extent possible of all work required at the design and quote stage.
• We can’t prove it but industry remedial variations to quote are considered to average 15%. Our project average variation is less than 7%
• In the interest of the client relationship most minor variations are accepted as Andersal cost at no cost to the client.
• Of course latent conditions discovered during job progress must be addressed.
• Any variation proposed is only recommended if it is considered to be in the client’s interest. No variation work is undertaken unless the consulting engineer recommends it and the client approves in writing.
• Variations are priced at normal profit margin.
• Variation disputes can sour good client relationships for the contractor and the consulting engineer
