On March 5th, 2021, ACRA Members and guests gathered in Sydney for the Remedial Industry Awards for Excellence dinner. Andersal was delighted to be awarded the National ACRA Research, Design and Innovation Award for Proof-of-Concept Trail Works at Aurora Place.
Andersal have been active, long-term active members of ACRA – Australasian Concrete Repair & Remedial Building Association since it was formed in 1991. ACRA aims to provide a forum to promote discussion and an exchange of views in the concrete repair and remedial building industry to advance the technology and practice in the remedial industry and associated activities.
The Association’s members are at the forefront of concrete repair and remedial technology worldwide and include companies and individuals with an interest in repairing and protecting concrete, including:
- Specialist consultants and engineers
- Specialist concrete repair, remedial building and waterproofing contractors
- Specialist materials suppliers
- Asset owners
Proof-of-Concept Trail Works – Aurora Place, Sydney
Andersal was engaged to assist develop a technical specification further to a consultant Engineer’s initial recommendations and then to execute a trial restoration on two large metal roof structures showing some advanced stages of corrosion on a 44-storey high rise building within 500m of the ocean.
Consultation with experts, analysis and testing within the fields of protective coatings, corrosion resistance materials, difficult access and materials handling resulted in a range of recommendations put forward to significantly prolong the serviceable life of the structures. A site trial was successfully executed to demonstrate those recommendations in practice.
